NHS Cyber Attack

We would like to re-assure everyone registered with our practice that we were not affected by the recent attack on the NHS computer sytems. Over the weekend steps have been taken to eliminate the vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows used to gain access to those systems which were hit along with other services being turned off temporarily until the threat had been dealt with. We experienced no disruption of service.

Due to the risk of errors when taking prescription requests over the telephone, we have taken the decision to stop the prescription line.  However, there is a variety of other ways to order your repeat prescription:

You can order your prescriptions using any of the following services:-

  • Online: We are also able to accept requests for repeat prescriptions through SystmOnline.  In order to utilise this service you must ensure that you are a registered user. If you have not registered as yet, please ask at Reception for a form or print one off from the website (you will need to produce 2 forms of ID).  Please visit the 'prescriptions' page.

By hand: hand in your repeat prescription, clearly indicating which items you require and where you would like to collect your medication / prescription. This can be dropped in the box by the entrances to Truro Health Park.

In person: complete a form and drop it in the box at our Reception desk.

By email: send your email to

By post: send to Repeat Prescriptions, Three Spires Medical Practice, Truro Health Park, Infirmary Hill, Truro  TR1 2JA.

Econsult Pilot

The Econsult pilot has now ended here at The Three Spires Medical Practice but there are still plenty of ways to contact us. SystmOnline will allow to you to book face to face appointments directly from the website and includes many other useful features. Of course you can always call the practice to book an appointment and one of our receptionists will be happy to help.

Over the past few months there has been some significant change for The Three Spires Medical Practice.  At the end of September we had a new clinical software system and in the middle of October we had a new telephone system.  The reason for the change was to improve patient access and allow for a more streamlined approach within the surgery.  Having these new systems required all our staff to train and implement them whilst still offering the usual level of service.  There have been times where it has been a challenge for all concerned and we would like to thank all our patients for their understanding and patience throughout the change period.

From the 1st December 2014 all GP practices are required to ask patients the Friends & Family test questions that will be monitored by NHS England on a monthly basis. The two questions are as follows:

  • How likely are you to recommend our GP Surgery to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?
  • Can you tell us why you gave that response?

Please let us know how we are doing and answer these questions by clicking on the 'Have Your Say - Friends & Family Survey' tab at the right of the page.

For urgent care when the Surgery is closed, please dial 111 to speak to NHS 111.  If your call is an emergency, please call 999.
